Covid and International Travel

Initial Phase

During the covid pandemic, international travel was getting increasingly difficult. Not only frequent flight cancellations, there were many extra requirements to meet before onboarding. K-Inc has assisted many clients who needed to go to the US or come back to Japan from 2021 to 2022.

Peak Phase

Mandatory Facility-based Quarantine

At the height of the pandemic from Summer in 2021 to early 2022, so many international passengers were required to stay at the facilities assigned by the Japanese government for 3 to 14 days even they were tested negative upon arrival at Japanese airports depending on the timing of their arrival and the areas they were flying from.

Receding Phase

US No Longer Require PCR

As of 12:01AM ET on June 12, 2022, CDC stopped requiring air passengers traveling from a foreign country to the United States to show a negative COVID-19 viral test taken 72 hours (till Dec 6, 2021)or one day before (Dec 6 2021 to Jun 11 2022) they board their flight.

Japan to End Pre-Departure Covid Test Requirement

Currently, travelers are required to submit negative results from a PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure to Japan. However, PCR test upon arrival is no longer required at the airports in Japan. The country will scrap the test requirement for the triple-vaccinated starting from Sep 7 2022, Japan time.
